Three messy exports in. One clean monthly report out.
Online orders, café sales and wholesale invoices are cleaned, modelled and sent as an Excel report and an email, on the 2nd of every month.
The problem
Brisa Coffee Roasters (a fictional company) sells online, in two cafés and to hotels. Every month someone spent a day pasting three different exports into one report. Dates came as text, money came as "$1,234" text, totals and duplicates hid in the rows, and column names changed from one export to the next.
What I built
Picks up the exports
On the 2nd of each month the system finds the files in a folder or Drive, whatever they are called.
Recognises each file
It works out which export is which, even when a column has been renamed.
Fixes the mess and counts every fix
Text dates, text money, subtotal rows, duplicates, refunds and product-name variants are corrected, and each fix is counted and listed.
Rebuilds a clean model
Clean tables with live formulas, so a number can be traced to its source rows.
Builds the Excel report
One page with the key numbers, native charts, the top products and highlights. A warning shows only if a source is missing.
Emails it, files it, alerts on failure
The report is emailed and saved to Drive. If something fails, it retries three times, then sends an alert.
